Preparing for and finding work

Sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start when looking for work.  Clients may also be worried that their time in prison will mean that they won’t be able to find a job.  ReSet includes individual and group support to help people to get ready for work, and to find work.  ReSet works with clients to explore training and employment opportunities and clients are able to work through any concerns that have made finding and keeping a job difficult for them in the past.

As well as general employment and training support, clients may be eligible for more intensive support through ReSet’s FIT 4 WORK employment and training program which aims to support job seekers into long term meaningful employment. Each individual job seeker that comes on to the program is supported by a ReSet Employment Mentor, who works with the client to develop an individual pathway plan and to set their employment goals.

The ReSet FIT 4 WORK Program activities are aimed at improving physical fitness, self-confidence, employability and networking opportunities. The ReSet Employment Mentors deliver the weekly program and provide support for participants, including assisting with work readiness to improve their health and wellbeing. Consistent attendance at these weekly sessions is expected so as to improve the opportunity to find full time employment.

Following the physical activity session, job seekers may also participate in industry specific training and work readiness aimed at better preparing them for employment.

To register for FIT 4 WORK clients must be:

  1. Referred to the ReSet Program
  2. Currently registered or working towards registering with a Job Active Provider (JAP)
  3. Willing to undergo a Pre-Employment Medical, including a Drug and Alcohol Screen or able to work towards this over the next few months
